In this class, we discussed what composition actually means. We learnt that every composition needs a story and some drama. Entire composition is based on “Hierarchy”.
Types of composition:
1) SYMMETRIC COMPOSITION :- aligned in same manner on both the sides.
2) ASYMMETRIC COMPOSITION :- not aligned in same way on both the sides.
We then learnt the 5 GESTALT’S PRINCIPLES:
- Similarity : few things must be similar in the composition, it may be colour, shape, or anything.
- Proximity : it means the closeness/togetherness of different objects in a composition.
- Continuity : represents the continuity of different objects.
- Closure : this is the concept in which we can assume a part of the object even if it is incompletely represented.
- Figure/ground : is actually the shape of the background made through other objects.

Similarity – since the shape of each object is same.
Proximity – since the objects are close enough.
Continuity – the objects continue in a same manner.

Similarity – due to the colour
Proximity – closeness
Continuity

-> Assignment – make two posters using GESTALT’S PRINCIPLES through basic shapes.

We also learnt how a pen tool works. Its working included 5 rules as followed:
