SPACE AND MATERIALITY 13 – 04/11/2019 – DEEPAK SIR

This class made us know a bit more about ourselves .i.e., what we actually know, and what we don’t.
1) THINGS WE KNOW WE KNOW
2) THINGS WE KNOW WE DON’T KNOW
3) THINGS WE DON’T KNOW WE KNOW
4) THINGS WE DON’T KNOW WE DON’T KNOW

We also discussed about platonic relations, which means non-romantic close relations.

Later, we were given a brief about our assignment.
Assignment -> Choose any physical touch with your partner and materialise the space of that touch. The action must be repetitive and no other action should be possible.

Final Project :
Touch : Head resting on Shoulder
Materialised the space with a Japanese Fan.

We thought of a Head resting on Shoulder interaction, and chose to materialise the space with a Japanese Fan.
We always notice that this touch usually occurs while we are sitting, especially in a public transport. It happens when we are comfortable or when we want comfort. And hence, we have used feathers to depict Comfort. Moreover, this fan cannot allow any other touch or interaction, but only the head to shoulder. Platonic/Non-platonic, both can interact this way.
In the beginning, we thought this might be easy, but then we came across few problems, like height difference, angle between my head and my partner's shoulder, etc.
