In the beginning, we were all asked to write down our stream of consciousness about Space, Material and Boundary. We then discussed everybody’s perception of these.
We were told that Space and Material are the 2 things on Earth that are always constant. Eg, a room will always remain the same for decades and a material, say charcoal will always be black, or say a teddy bear or a pillow, will always remain the same forever.
Which means whatever you design, you will add a new constant to an individual’s life.
Also, anything that creates a boundary is an Object.
Later, we were given time to complete our project.
Assignment -> Choose any physical touch with your partner and materialise the space of that touch. The action must be repetitive and no other action should be possible. ‘

Touch : Head resting on Shoulder
Materialised the space with a Japanese Fan.
We thought of a Head resting on Shoulder interaction, and chose to materialise the space with a Japanese Fan.
We always notice that this touch usually occurs while we are sitting, especially in a public transport. It happens when we are comfortable or when we want comfort. And hence, we have used feathers to depict Comfort. Moreover, this fan cannot allow any other touch or interaction, but only the head to shoulder. Platonic/Non-platonic, both can interact this way.
In the beginning, we thought this might be easy, but then we came across few problems, like height difference, angle between my head and my partner's shoulder, etc.
