TIME 1 – 07/01/2020 – RAM SIR

We were given a brief about what is this course about. We were told that this course includes designing/documenting time in an abstract way, know what time is about, and how can we depict time.

All of us in the class were asked to write down one word that represents what time means to us. Time for me is a “Chance”. With every further moment in life, we always get a Chance to prove ourselves, or to start over again and move forward.

We were asked to visually represent our thoughts about this word.

You’ve got a chance to work a little hard and keep moving your whole life, or keep thinking and stay at a same position the whole life.
Choose an easy but wrong path just for comfort of few moments, or utilise the second chance you got by taking a right path, for the life long luxury.

All I wanted to depict through these pictures was that you always get a second chance in life, it’s up to you if you want to utilise the chance.

Now, when the question comes, “How to depict time visually?” You don’t have to use different elements for it, just the basic geometry would be enough. A perfect example that was given to us was Mandala, which is made out of basic elements. Few basic elements in real life are – Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.

We were shown a short clip, that showed the comparison of the older times, where the Earth just had it’s basic elements, and the modern times, where there was pollution, buildings, automobiles, etc.

My reflection :- This course is basically about depicting different times, and comparing them.

Assignment -> Think of any 3 narratives in your life, that you feel are cultural or historic.
