IMAGING 5 – 07/02/2020 – SHRUTHI MA’AM

We were given a brief of our next assignment.

-> Assignment – Design a booklet that includes your 3*3″ thumbnails and 10*10″ iterations fro studio, and the 6 write-ups from seminar.

We were also given few instructions about what should and should not be included in the booklet. Following are some of them :-

Use paragraph and character styles
The booklet should have an A5 format
Must be Portrait and not landscape
Use master page for backgrounds
Identify the grid system that you want to use in the book in the beginning itself.
Each page must invalid the headline and page number
Margins, baseline grid and columns are mandatory.

We were then taught some print settings that might be useful while printing the booklet without difficulties.

PRINT SETTINGS :-

File -> Print settings.
1) Export your file to PDF
Make sure your PDF is in spreads form and not in pages form.
2) Go to Adobe PDF Preset -> High Quality Print
Since you need a smaller size to send the file, you can compress the file anytime in the print settings. And to reduce the image quality, Go to Image Quality -> Medium.
3) Marks and Bleeds -> Crop marks. This will help you not to cut your margins while printing.
File -> Print Booklet
Booklet Type -> 2-up Saddle Stitch
Print Settings ->
           Print Preset -> Custom
           Select Print Blank Pages.

Reflection :- This class made me realise that printing anything is not easy. Everything that you think is easy, must not be easy. There are rules and regulations that you need to follow even n a very simple thing. That is when your work attracts.
