IMAGING 10 – 13/03/2020 – SHRUTI MA’AM

Each of us’ cover page and back page were reviewed in this session.

Cover Page

I wanted a complete ancient and vintage theme for my coffee table booklet, with topic of not just my timeline I did in History, but I wanted to add broader topics/aspects to this like Ancient Architecture, art, culture and tradition, sculptures, pottery, etc. This idea brought me to a conclusion for my cover page.

I decided to design a mandala (which is known to be an ancient art), with not the general patterns, but the aspects of various civilisations as its elements.

I’ve done this on illustrator, using pen tool to trace the elements inside the mandala, and the shape tool to make the concentric circles.
Since I decided to work with a complete vintage theme, I thought this colour scheme would perfectly go with it.
I tried using this background because I thought it would go with the colour scheme.
I then transferred the illustrator file to Photoshop, and applied a vintage filter to it (Hue/Saturation)

Faculty asked me to change the background colour, and apply some texture to it, which would make it look realistic. Hence, I came up with the following options.

Back Page

I illustrated the Pillars of Greek architecture on Illustrator for my back page.

Working file of the pillar.
Reference image for Pillar.

Following is how I wanted my Back page to look :-

I was asked to use the same colour scheme through out the book, and hence I did.
